May’s sales data is in the process of being finalized, and we can report that the month was a strong one in terms of sales per dealership rooftop. In fact, May’s result of 5.8 trucks per rooftop was the strongest since October of 2014.

Early incoming sales reports pointed to a weaker month, and auction activity was slow in May. As such, our early view was that the market had cooled going into summer. On the retail side, at least, this turned out not to be the case. We expected the general trend to continue upwards, but were surprised by this result.

We have yet to review May’s price data. Stay tuned for those results later this week.
