With 100% of our December data collected, it turns out our prediction in this month’s Guidelines was accurate, if slightly conservative. Retail sales per dealership jumped back up in December after a mediocre November, coming in at 6.3 trucks per rooftop – 0.3 more than predicted.

Month-over-month, December was up 1.2 trucks (or 19%). Year-over-year, December, 2013 was up 0.5 trucks (or 7.9%) vs. December, 2012. On an annual basis, 2013’s average was 5.9 trucks per month, 0.1 lower than 2012’s average.

As we mentioned, dealers have seen increased month-over-month volatility in sales volume since September. We analyze the possible factors behind this trend in Guidelines. See graphs below for detail.
