Following April’s bump, May’s retail results for 3-5 year-old sleeper tractors headed back down on average. Month-over-month, May’s pricing was off by $4,759 (or 6.6%). However, the number of MaxxForce-equipped ProStars rose again this month, impacting the average. Excluding the ProStar, May’s result trailed April’s by $2,224 (or 3.0%). Also, not all models decreased this month. The Peterbilt 386, Kenworth T660, and Volvo VNL 630/670 increased incrementally. These results point to an essentially flat month, with the decrease in the overall average attributable to a higher volume of models that declined in value vs. increased.

In 2015 to date, this group is trailing same-period 2014 by $1,527 (or 2.1%). Increased supply is the main factor behind the mildly lower pricing year-over-year.
