Through the first 9 months of the year, the Class 4 and Class 6 segments of the medium duty conventional market are both more stable than in the same period of last year. Our 4-7 year-old benchmarks are up substantially year-over-year in the case of Class 4, and essentially identical year-over-year in the case of Class 6. See graph below for detail.

Volume did not increase, however, with our Class 4 benchmark group lagging 2014 and our Class 6 benchmark group performing similarly to last year. Keep in mind that last year’s results include the high-build 2008 model year, while this year’s do not. As such, we do not place major importance on the volume difference.

The conventional market is recovering nicely, with the lighter end of the sector leading the way.

Stay tuned for deeper analysis later this month.
