Last week, we examined December’s higher volume and lower pricing at specific no-reserve auctions. We don’t yet have final December data from all auctions and dealer-to-dealer sources, but we do know that 3-5 year-old sleeper tractors lost about 20% of their value from October to November. The majority of this depreciation was attributable to the International ProStar, which has been hit hard in the past two months after enjoying stability for most of the year. Excluding the ProStar, the sleeper market only lost 6% of its value on average. See graph below for detail.

We expect accelerated depreciation to become evident once all December’s wholesale data is collected. This trend unfortunately leaves the market at the end of 2015 with a big question mark.

This will be the last blog entry of 2015. Thank you to everyone who has kept up with our analysis over the past 12 months. We look forward to working with you in 2016.
