As we do every year, we have updated the mileage tables in the ATD/NADA Official Commercial Truck Guide to reflect the new model year. We essentially “age” the tables each year, so a given model year receives a higher addition for low miles and a smaller deduction for high miles. These tables are what our electronic products use to automatically calculate mileage adjustments, and appear below (see the print edition or our FAQ for a definition of “Type”):

On a related note, our ongoing Class 8 analysis frequently references 3-5 year-old trucks as a benchmark. Since the new model year generally begins in January for each make, and the new model year is 2017, we are now considering the 2012-2014 model years to represent 3-5 years of age.

We’re giving you this information to provide transparency to our published valuations, which is the main objective of this blog and our Guidelines monthly market updates. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Chris Visser, Senior Analyst and Product Manager for Commercial Vehicles.
