Mazda MX-5 Reaches One Million

Production on the first Mazda MX-5 started 27 years ago at the Ujina Plant No.1 in Hiroshima. Four generations later, the brand has reached a milestone for its fun to drive soft-top. Mazda announced earlier this week that it has produced its one-millionth MX-5.

VW to Offer Buyback for Diesel Vehicles

As the fallout from Dieselgate continues, Volkswagen AG has reached a tentative plan after months of deliberation. According to Automotive News, the deal proposed by VW, would buy back nearly 500,000 diesel vehicles that were equipped with emissions defeating software.

EPA Won’t Ban Racecars

In February, the Environmental Protection Agency created a firestorm with the automotive enthusiast community. A proposal — originally targeted at reducing medium and heavy-duty truck emissions — included language that would ban the conversion of street cars into track cars. As Automotive News reports, the EPA’s attempt to regulate auto racing has been halted.

Spied: Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake

In 2012, Porsche teased the Panamera Sport Turismo concept at the Paris Motor Show. Since its reveal, test mules have been spotted in various locations, but none were more promising than the latest sighting at the Nürburgring. According to Autoblog, the sporty wagon was seen at the legendary track, which is known as a test bed for pre-production cars.

IIHS Sheds Light on Vehicle Headlamps

Over the past few years the automobile industry has seen major advancements in headlight technology. Halogen bulbs are slowly being phased out for brighter, whiter high-intensity discharge (HID) or LED units. Brighter does not always mean better. According to IIHS, in a recent study of 31 midsize vehicles, only one received a good rating in the company’s first ever headlight ratings.

Ford Bronco Concept Photos Surface

Twenty years ago, the last Ford Bronco made its way off the assembly line. Since that time, Ford has offered no replacements other than a teaser concept in 2004. That may soon change.

According to Jalopnik, Ford is gearing up for a sport utility vehicle blitz. A new Bronco may be part of the Blue Oval lineup.
