Automakers are officially gearing up for the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. With press days just a few weeks away, many manufacturers began to tease the media and public alike. Land Rover has taken aim at Porsche, and according to Automotive News, is ready to debut the Macan fighting Velar.

Positioned between the larger Range Rover Sport and smaller Evoque, the Velar marks the fourth edition to the Range Rover family. It will be the first Land Rover to utilize the D7A platform, which is the foundation for Jaguar’s XE sedan and F-Pace SUV. The new mid-level crossover will house Jaguar Land Rover’s suite of new four-cylinder engines, available in both gasoline and diesel variants. The Velar’s launch is critical to JLR’s profitability after the company suffered a 15 percent loss dating back the past nine months. More information will be available March 1 just before the official press days.
