The Volvo Car Corporation recently announced that in 2019, every new model Volvo launches will utilize an electric motor.

“This is about the customer,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president, and chief executive. “People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish.”

The Sweden-based automaker has plans to launch five EV models from 2019 to 2021. Three of the models will be a part of the standard Volvo line, while the other two models will be sportier and bear the high-performance Polestar badge.

According to Volvo, "These five cars will be supplemented by a range of petrol and diesel plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid 48-volt options on all models, representing one of the broadest electrified car offerings of any car maker."
