Pricing Announced for New 2015 Navigator

The Lincoln Motor Company released this week that pricing on the new 2015 Navigator will start at $62,475, including destination and delivery charges. New elements for 2015 include redesigned exterior with split-wing grill, updated interior, more powerful engine and customer-focused technologies. The Premium Reserve Package, which brings the MSRP to $69,975, includes 22-inch wheels, ultra-luxurious leather interior and premium Ziricote wood trim.

Dealership Employment Tops 1 Million in U.S.

As reported by Automotive News, the number of people in the United States employed at a dealership tops the 1 million mark for the first time since 2008, according to NADA. The average dealership employs 57 people and total payroll for all dealerships in the United States was $53.7 billion last year.

Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition Sells Out in 10 Minutes

CarBuzz reports that all 100 units of the MX-5 Miata have been sold. The price for one of these special editions starts at $32,205 and comes with power retractable hard top, Soul Red metallic paint, 17-inch gunmetal alloys, and an Almond leather interior. Buyers will also receive a custom Tourneau watch and display winder box.

Toyota Develops New Computer Chips to Increase Hybrid Efficiency

Automotive News reports that Toyota has developed a new semiconductor chip that will increase hybrid efficiency by 10%. This, coupled with new weight-saving measures, could add up to something truly amazing. Toyota hopes to have the new chips for use in production cars for the 2020 model year.

2015 Mustang Pricing Released

Ford announced this morning that pricing for the all-new 2015 mustang will start at $24,425, and that dealers can now start placing orders. The base price is about $1,000 more than the outgoing model, but the added cost is more than justified by the impressive list of standard equipment. Some of the features include an all-new vehicle platform with independent rear suspension, HID’s, rear camera, keyless entry and SYNC with a 4.2-inch display. The new Mustang is expected to roll into dealerships early this fall.

Hellcat SRT Challenger Will Produce Over 600 Horsepower

As reported by Jalopnik, the upcoming Challenger SRT with the Hellcat Hemi will produce more than 600 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2 liter V8. The Hellcat will be available with either a conventional manual transmission or a new eight-speed automatic.

Nissan Debuts the 2015 370Z NISMO

Nissan surprised the world at the North Carolina “ZDAYZ” event by debuting the 2015 370Z NISMO. The new NISMO features a distinctive exterior appearance package, new wheels and an enhanced interior. On the performance side, the car receives a retuned suspension, Recaro seats developed specifically for the Z and a 7-speed automatic transmission will be available. The NISMO edition goes on sale in July 2014.

Summer Shutdowns Not Likely for Manufactures this Year

The Detroit News is reporting that due to the long winter and strong auto sales, automakers are not going to have their typical two week summer plant shutdowns. The industry average for days supply is currently sitting a 69 days, meaning that a plant shutdown would drop inventory levels below the desired threshold.
