LF-LC Gets Green Light

Alain Uyttenhoven, Lexus Europe’s Vice President, revealed to Autocar that the LF-LC will be produced in 2016.  The concept version of this vehicle debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and Alain stated that the production model will retain between 90 and 100 percent of what was seen in the concept. This may be the sexiest car on the market when it arrives. Way to go Lexus!

The New Mazda 2

Mazda revealed the new Mazda 2 last night, and it looks good.  It has the KODO (Design of Motion) visual philosophy, and is similar to the very well received Mazda 3. In this competitive compact segment, I think Mazda has a winner.

Smart Strikes Back

It’s been seven years since the introduction of the Smart Fortwo, but now Smart is back with an all-new version for 2016.  The new, more muscular and sporty design is a definite improvement over the earlier models, with almost a MINI look to them.

All New XE Jaguar Compact Sports Sedan Debut Set

Jaguar announced today that it will launch the new XE on September 8th in London.  Built around an all-new, aluminum architecture, the XE will combine thrilling performance, agile handling and precise, responsive steering, with outstanding levels of refinement. Will it challenge the Germans?  We will have to wait and see.

2015 Acura TLX Is Now in Production

Acura started mass production of the TLX today at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio. Expect the TLX to arrive in dealerships in August. The TLX will replace two vehicles in Acura’s lineup, the TSX and the TL.  This will be accomplished by the availability of two powertrains, a 4cyl and V6.

New Supra and Z4 Share Platforms, Possible 2017 Release

The big news out of Japan, reported by Nikkei Asian Review, is that Toyota and BMW will develop a common platform to underpin the next Z4 and the new Supra.  The two vehicles will have completely different body designs and will be sold under their respective brands, unlike the FR-S and BRZ, which look fairly similar.

Porsche Pajun Delayed Until 2019

The information coming out of Stuttgart, Germany is that the Pajun, originally slated for a 2018 release, has been pushed back a year.  This BMW 5 Series competitor is planned to make Porsche more mainstream, similar to how the Panamera faired when Porsche debuted the model for the first time.

CLA Adds Sport Package Plus

Mercedes Benz has just announced an upgrade to the CLA, the Sport Package Plus.  This option group is a further enhancement to the sport package and includes a more aggressive front bumper, an AMG-developed front axle and suspension, a more forceful exhaust setup and exclusive 18-inch AMG wheels, plus new MB TEX/DINAMICA sport seats and red top-stitching throughout the interior.

Fast and Furious 7 Wraps Shooting and Set Release Date

Announced via the Fast & Furious Facebook page, shooting has been completed on the seventh installment of the franchise. A theatrical release date has been set for April 3, 2015.  The cast in the announcement crafted a tribute to Paul Walker who passed away recently in an automotive accident.
