Future of Tires

Hankook Tires has debuted three new futuristic tires that could one day become reality. Each of the three has a unique function. According to Hankook, their characteristics are as follows:

1.Boostrac has hexagonal tread blocks that can transform into expanded mode with intensified traction performance - especially on steep, rough conditions such as desert and mountain roads.

2.    Alpike is designed with tire circumferential expansion mode, which increases vehicle ground clearance making it optimally suitable for heavy snow. Also, the studs and gaps in tread created from tire circumferential expansion enhance the traction on snowy and icy roads.

3.    HyBlade is designed to provide an optimal solution for heavy rain - equipped with waterwheel tread and side spokes that create driving and steering force in heavy rain.

Civic Type R is U.S. Bound

Motor Authority has learned from a source close to Honda that the Civic Type-R engine is on its way to the U.S. market.  It will produce somewhere around 300 horsepower.  This news comes off the heels of Ford’s recent Focus RS announcement. Coincidence? I think not.
