Porsche fans get ready: a new 911 Carrera is headed to dealerships in March of 2016 and it promises to be the fastest Carrera model ever built. Over the weekend, the German automaker announced the 2017 911 Carrera and Carrera S models would be receiving a first ever turbocharged power plant. This new engine provides an additional 20 ponies to the outgoing naturally aspirated plant, while improving fuel economy 12 percent. The turbocharged motor makes 370 horsepower with 331 lb-ft. of torque on the Carrera and 420 horsepower with 368 lb-ft. of torque in the Carrera S. This power bump, coupled with chassis upgrades, allowed the new Carrera S to set a blistering 7-minutes and 30-seconds lap around the North Loop of Germanys famous Nürburgring, besting its previous time by 10 seconds. Porsche Active Suspension Management and a 7-speed manual are standard on all models. Look for the new Carrera to start at $89,400 when it arrives next year.
