Pope Francis is scheduled to begin his September visit to the U.S. later today and will do so in style, thanks to a retrofitted Jeep Wrangler. The Washington Post reports that the vehicle or “popemobile” is already in the hands of the secret service and being prepared for its tours of Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia. Details have been scarce, however, the Vatican confirmed that the Jeep will be similar to the one used in Ecuador last month, which featured a clear shield on the front with open sides. Pope Francis has noted in the past he prefers the open design to the fully enclosed, as it allows him to interact with the people.  Over the years Pope Francis has used a number of different automobile brands including Mercedes, Toyota, Isuzu, Kia, Hyundai, Land Rover and Jeep.
