Since the introduction of the 1M Coupe in 2011, BMW diehards have been waiting for a worthy replacement to the highly coveted, ground breaking coupe. The M235i was a step in the right direction but never quite lived up to the hype of the original. M enthusiasts get ready; BMW announced the all-new M2 coupe this week and it looks ready to take the torch. Powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder, the M2 makes 365 Horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. torque. The M2 can be had with the traditional 6-speed manual gearbox, with a new automated rev matching system or drivers can opt for BMW’s seven-speed double clutch automatic. Motorsport influence can be seen throughout the car especially in the aggressive and athletic exterior styling. For track driving, BMW has included a modified oil sump to ensure all the parts stay lubricated during the high g-forces of sustained turns. The BMW M2 has a legendary status to live up to and the new model certainly looks to be up to the challenge.
