Reintroduced in 2005, the Dodge Charger has remained on the same platform for nearly 10 years. The LX generation has been through two refreshes and FCA has one more planned for 2019. The big changes are reserved for the next generation, and as Autoblog reports, a diet is one of them. The new charger platform is expected to shed almost 500 pounds, bringing the car to a much more nimble 3,500 lbs. Much of this is thanks to the new, Italian influenced, underpinnings as the new model is expected to share a platform with the Alfa Romeo Giulia. In addition to the slim-down, new powertrains, highlighted by a 300 horsepower turbo four-cylinder, will be available. The new Charger is expected to arrive sometime in 2020.
