The Internet lit up earlier this week as rumors of a possible sale of McLaren Automotive to Apple Incorporated made their rounds. The tech giant had reportedly been in talks with the British supercar maker for months and was on the verge of acquiring the company. McLaren has taken a different stand on the matter, and according to Shifting Lanes, the automaker is not in talks with Apple. Several sources have indicated talks between the two companies are non-existent and there has been no proposed acquisition.

Recently, Apple’s secret car project veered in a new direction and was hit with layoffs. This denial clears the air in McLaren’s corner, but leaves the door open for another automaker to take the reins.
