Earlier this week, images of the redesigned 2017 BMW 5 Series raced across the Internet, a day ahead of the company’s scheduled reveal. Consequently, the German automaker has released specifications for the all-new luxury mid-size sedan.

The seventh generation 5 Series builds on the visual cues first seen on the recently introduced 7 Series and adds improved performance.  Driving dynamics have been enhanced compared to the outgoing model and weight has been dropped by 137 pounds thanks to the use of magnesium and aluminum. Power comes from retooled, 4- and 6-cylinder turbocharged engines. All are mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the 530i and 540i models will be the first to roll off the line, an M550i will be available at a later date. The top-level sedan will pack a 0-60 mph time that rivals the current M5.

Look for the all-new 5 Series to hit U.S. dealership lots in February of 2017.
