Pony Cars Come Up Short on IIHS Testing

The International Institute of Highway Safety is responsible for conducting studies related to the automobile industry; most notably its safety tests. IIHS is tasked with crash testing every car that runs on U.S. streets, and their tests are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry. According to Shifting Lanes, the institute’s most recent test of American muscle cars delivered some less than desired results.

IIHS Sheds Light on Vehicle Headlamps

Over the past few years the automobile industry has seen major advancements in headlight technology. Halogen bulbs are slowly being phased out for brighter, whiter high-intensity discharge (HID) or LED units. Brighter does not always mean better. According to IIHS, in a recent study of 31 midsize vehicles, only one received a good rating in the company’s first ever headlight ratings.
