New Vehicle Market

For the period of January through June 2001 a total of 4,512,649 cars and 4,199,219 light-duty trucks were sold. Light-duty vehicle sales through June 2001 totaled 8,711,868 units, 417,004 fewer units as compared to the same time period in 2000. Light-duty truck sales represent 48.2% of total sales.

Used Vehicle Market

Intense price competition, rebates, incentives and low-cost financing on the new vehicle side of the business continues to place downward pressure on used vehicle prices. Improved affordability continues to fuel demand.

A few of the highest value retaining used vehicles for model year 2000 are the Porsche 911, Porsche Boxster, Lexus RX300, Chevrolet Corvette, Toyota MR2 Spyder, Honda Odyssey, Honda S2000, Mercedes-Benz CLK, Audi TT, Toyota Sienna and the BMW X5.
